I will wait

It was cold, really cold when she woke up that morning. She had to go to the airport to board her plane at 8.50 in the morning.

She wasn’t sure if she wanted to come back.

Things at home had been a little rough lately and she just couldn’t handle it anymore. Her house was falling apart, her boyfriend didn’t act the same around her, her mother had just passed away, and she had no reason to go back to that empty life.  Nothing was keeping her in that small town.

She packed quietly, humming to herself in a low voice. She folded a beautiful dress neatly. Her boyfriend had given her that. She was thinking about giving it away.

How many times did she think about leaving? She never liked that town. In fact, she hated it. And now that she didn’t have anything to go back to, she just couldn’t wrap herself around the idea of staying in Prague forever.

When she arrived at the airport back home, her mother wouldn’t be there. And no green-eyed boy would wait for her neither because, to be honest, she was pretty sure he didn’t care about her anymore.

‘I’m doing him a favor’ she thought to herself. If she didn’t show up to take her plane, it would be easier for him. She would be the one to break things off and he could move on with his life.

Silence filled the room. She wasn’t sure… but then she was.

She made a silent pact with herself.

It was cold, really cold when she didn’t show up to the airport and lost the plane that was going to take her back.

It was hot, really hot in the airport back home, where a green-eyed boy stood still with flowers in one hand, chocolates in the other, and a whole bunch of apologies in his heart.

It was suddenly cold when the boy realised she wasn’t coming back.
